6 October
On October 6, 2021, the annual avenue conference, organized by BUND M-V in cooperation with the Mecklenburg-West Pomeranian state agency for the environment, nature conservation and geology, took place in Güstrow.
140 participants from 9 German states came together in the town’s congress hall to present and discuss topics related to Germany’s green avenues, such as tree care, concepts for new plantings, avenue condition assessment, traffic safety and more.
The conference kicked off with a foreword from Till Backhaus, minister of agriculture and the environment in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania. His speech emphasized the state’s special responsibility to preserve the cultural heritage of avenues and the need for clear goals and measures in order to achieve this.
6 short videos were shown to show the state’s successful work in avenue protection and development in the year 2020. For example, the state’s road and traffic administration managed to replace and replant 3311 avenue trees that were cut down that year.
The speaker’s engaging presentations and topical versatility as well as practical relevance ensured that the conference concluded as a great success.
